Lock up your husbands!!!!! ‘Cause once they hear this new slab of BEEF, they’re bound to revert into their primordial caveman selves with no hope to ever bounce back. Never again will you hug the man you once loved, as he will be too busy bashing his head against the wall to the pounding rhythms of BEEF.
The Cincinnati garage/synth-punk quartet is the latest issuing from Italian imprint, Goodbye Boozy Records. The album, titled “il manzo”, is a four song 7” clocking in at just under 7 mins. Hey… that’s about a minute per inch!
The band has managed to fit in all of its favorite elements once again: reliable garage punk with the critical immediacy that has always hallmarked the genre, lyrical themes of Midwestern-American religious trauma, boneheaded guitar riffs that could make any KISS fan cry and refreshing sonic explorations of archaic recording technology. The result is gigantic and strikingly clear sounding catharsis - of which was captured entirely on an eight-track cassette deck.
BEEF is not responsible for the mental health of any listener after thaving reviewed the album. Listen at your own risk and fuck BEEF trucks.
