Two years after "Go Home", we have "Stay Home" from HANK WOOD & Co. While some thought they had broken up, the HAMMERHEADS were quietly writing a new batch of songs for "Stay Home". This LP stays true to the infectiously catchy punk numbers heard on "Go Home" but digs in a bit deeper, with the guitar more prevalent in the mix, and the tone a bit less harsh. In a lot of ways, this new HAMMERHEADS material is reminiscent of GUN CLUB, being punk music played with the attitude and tone of classic garage bands, while adding a darker, melodic layer to the mix. The added percussion and Henry's gruff vocals really set this one apart from the pack on top of the already stellar songwriting. While not as immediately smashing as "Go Home", "Stay Home" has a hell of a lot of replay value and is quite the impressive followup album from one of the best bands currently out there, period. Packaging includes a screened sleeve, lyric booklet and foldout poster. Toxic State.
